On behalf of the Board of Directors we would like to welcome you to the 48th Long
Beach/Lido season. Last year we were pleased to field 59 baseball and softball teams this year, as
well as our growing Challenger division. Additionally, we will have over 10 Williamsport
and All-star teams competing with other towns in Little League District 30.
Our Season will Kick off April 16th, with our traditional parade and opening day games
and festivities. We are happy to report our parade returned to Park Avenue and for the third year with our Carnival @ Kennedy Plaza. Our vendors and band returned and most cases for their 21st consecutive year. Through the generosity of our donors and fans we were able to raise 1000.00 to donate to the Special Olympics NY, another tradition we plan to nurture in the future. Will also continue our partnership this year with the “Halftime Howie”Radio show, coaches were encouraged to nominate a pitcher and slugger of the week. Howie selected the weekly winner, players , parents and coaches joined him for his weekly Sunday night show 7-8 pm, WGBB 1240 am. Our season concluded at our annual family night at the New York Mets vs Washington Nationals for the future Stars program on June 16th.
We continue our commitment to improve field conditions and player safety. Our Lindell
field received a major facelift this year and the same is planned for the Middle School.
We will also continue our Field Initiative with the TOH, as providing suitable fields for all
sports in our area remain a concern and a challenge. In the future we hope to have all
of our fields equipped with AED’s, of course training our coaches and volunteers will be
the first step toward that goal. Rest assured player safety is our top priority.
Before the start of our season, we hope to offer winter training programs starting
And lastly, we must thank all of our volunteers, coaches, supervisors, Challenger
buddies, umpires and team parents throughout the league. Please remember to
Support your Sponsors, and enjoy the rest of the Journal.
